She completely changed her life — and you could do that?

The former writer first took up pole acrobatics in 2010. Then Sabine Christine was 43 years old. Prior to that, she had been practicing classical ballet for many years, but due to a broken leg, she had to stop training.

“After my injury, a friend of mine who is an aerialist suggested that I try pole dancing. And I really enjoyed it,” Christine told The Post, noting the physical and emotional benefits of the sport.

“It has definitely changed the way I see myself and my body,” the woman added. “Learning all the special moves and exotic moves made me feel strong and free.”

One of her favorite tricks is called the hands-free jade split, a maneuver in which she hangs upside down in the air in a split using only her leg muscles for balance.

With this exercise, which few can perform, in 2017 and 2018, Sabina became the first woman over 50 in the United States to win gold medals in the World Pole Sports & Arts Federation’s annual Masters 50+ tournament.

And in 2019, a woman won a silver trophy at the World Sports Games. This international event is held annually for athletes competing in genres that are not recognized by the Olympic Games.

Kristin considers her age to be her “secret weapon” in pole dancing.

“I never talk about my age, so people don’t know how old I am,” admits the 55-year-old dancer, who now also moonlights as a coach. “Most of the women I teach think I’m in my early 30s.”

The only negative is that Sabina herself and her family were bullied because of Christine’s pole dancing.

“When people in my city found out that I was a pole dancer, they called me a porn star, a stripper and a woman of easy virtue,” the woman complained. And her 23-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son were often bullied by their peers. Sabina’s son was even forced to change schools.

“The only solution I saw was to become a really good dancer so that people understand that this is a serious sport that I love,” Christine said. This was her motivation. No sooner said than done. There are still many peaks ahead that Sabina wants to conquer and championships that she wants to win.
