Keanu suddenly burst into the wedding celebration, amazing the guests
Keanu Reeves, the 57-year-old star of the John Wick film series, surprised a married couple at their wedding reception at the Fawsley Hall Hotel in Northamptonshire, England. In fact, both the bride
and groom are big fans of the action star and had no idea he’d show up on their wedding day an hour after the groom invited him while chatting at the hotel bar.
The couple, 35-year-old customer sales rep James Roadnight and 34-year-old Nikki, a dog trainer, were grateful to Keanu for attending their wedding reception on such short notice.
James and Nikki have been together for two and a half years after meeting on a dating app. They admit that Keanu Reeves’ appearance was the ‘icing on the cake’ of.
They were unaware that the Hollywood celebrity was staying in the same 4-star hotel as them, with rooms ranging in price from £266 to £495. Keanu Reeves was working on a Formula One documentary, which will be available on Disney+ soon.
Nikki recalled that her husband and Keanu met earlier at the hotel bar and asked the celebrity to join them for drinks at the wedding reception. They had a great conversation,
and Keanu mentioned that he had just gotten off a plane and would be staying at the hotel until his work on the documentary was completed.
«My husband saw him in the bar area and told him he’d just gotten married and invited Keanu to come over to say hello and have a drink with us if he wanted to,»
Nikki said in an interview with Newsweek. He was very friendly and stated that he would later. We weren’t sure if he would, but it was cool that my husband had talked to him!»
All of the wedding guests were overjoyed to see Keanu Reeves making the event extra special for the newlyweds.
«He was so kind and friendly and congratulated us on our wedding,» Nikki said, beaming. He was gracious enough to pose for some photos, and our wedding photographer was able to capture some as well!
Then he took the time to speak to some of our guests and have more photos done! It was incredible that it happened on my wedding day. He held my hand, cuddled me, and said congratulations — it was surreal.
My bridesmaid was working on my dress at the time when someone from the venue mentioned that there was a special guest outside. I entered the courtyard and there he was. Keanu Reeves attended our wedding reception.
I think I said something like, «Welcome to our wedding. Nikki is my name. «Would you like something to drink?» He said he’d had a long flight and politely declined before taking photos with us all for about 10 or 15 minutes.
Near the end, there was a swarm of fan girls, and I even asked, «Do you want me to help escort you out?» He said it was fine and kept making time for everyone — he was just the nicest guy.»
«I was blown away,» Nikki said of their honeymoon in Crete. Keanu Reeves is my favorite actor, so if I could meet anyone, it would be him. He was simply humble and kind. I got the impression he was also genuinely pleased to be there. He didn’t have to come over, but he did, and it’s something we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.
I am a huge fan of the Matrix films and have seen them numerous times, and I had a crush on him in the Speed films as well. What girl wouldn’t? My late uncle, who couldn’t be there,
was a huge fan of his, so it was fitting that he showed up. He’d have loved it. We have friends in Florida, and our wedding photos have made headlines there. We’re just regular people. Such things do not happen to us! Everything has been very strange.»
«Earlier in the day, I was at the bar, and a member of staff said Keanu Reeves was staying,» James continued.
So me being me, I went out to the beer garden where he was having a pint to introduce myself to him. I shook his hand, told him it was my wedding day, and asked if he could stay for the reception later.
He laughed when I told him that my wife would love to meet him and that he couldn’t miss her because she was the one in the big white dress. He congratulated me and was incredibly friendly and down-to-earth.
I told him there was no pressure and he didn’t have to do anything, but the offer was there if he wanted to join us for a drink.
He spent a lot of time taking pictures with us and our guests. He was just a regular guy who was humble. He still had the presence and personality of a movie star. He just had that distinct aura that he exudes in his films.
We adore The Matrix and all of the John Wick movies. My mother-in-law got everyone to shout ‘Speed’ when she took their photos. That was pretty funny because it was obviously one of his older films, but it was still a good one. He was a great guy, and we were so grateful he gave us his time to make our special day even more memorable.»
