Cancer has had a significant impact on society, resulting in the loss of countless lives. It has affected nearly everyone in some way, either by personal experience or by witnessing a friend or loved one’s battle.

A family in Pennsylvania is experiencing unimaginable grief after both a mother and her son were diagnosed with cancer within a short period of time. This is a rare occurrence that not many people have to endure.

Nicole Roche, a wife and mother of three, is said to have revealed her stage IV cancer diagnosis.

That was bad enough, as it put her family through a difficult period filled with uncertainty. Unfortunately, they were not done receiving bad news.

Wesley, Nicole’s 4-year-old son, was taken to the hospital after complaining of stomach pain. Medical examinations revealed that the young child had a large malignant tumor in his kidney.

Nicole took to Facebook on September 3rd to share her family’s difficult journey thus far. She stated in her post that nothing God does is without purpose, while also announcing Wesley’s diagnosis.

Nicole stated that she believes God loves their child more than she could love him with her human heart. She believes that God has a plan for both her and her son, and that they are meant to walk this path together.

The courageous mother stated that she did not choose this path, but she is ready for it.

Sources report that Wesley has been experiencing intense discomfort in recent months. Nicole further added that she never imagined witnessing one of her children going through the same struggle as she is, especially not at the same time.

She strongly believed that her cancer diagnosis was a crucial part of her life story and should not be kept hidden.

Wesley was reportedly taken to the emergency room after complaining of stomach pain. After his cancer was discovered, he was immediately transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for emergency surgery to remove the tumor.

Nicole Roche shared that after the surgery, Wesley will undergo conventional treatment, which will involve six rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.

She mentioned that their family’s journey will now center on the recovery and healing of two people rather than one.

Nicole believes that Wesley is a resilient young child who will recover. She did, however, admit that when she is calm, she is taken aback by the strange and surreal nature of their situation.

She has recently felt almost disconnected from her own body and finds it difficult to accept that this is their reality.

Nicole revealed in a post that she finds strength in her son. Wes, she claims, is far braver than she is.

Nicole shared that her son’s bravery motivates her to be stronger and face her own treatment with more courage. While she is uncertain if she will ever feel comfortable with needles, ports, chemotherapy, radiation, or any other aspect of her treatment,

she is determined to be there for her child and accompany him on this journey. She wants to be as strong as possible for him because she believes she owes him that.

Nicole’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help them fight cancer, and it has received nearly $47,000 in donations.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Nicole and her child.
