As the show marks 50 years, Jennifer Lopez recalls her first performance at the American Music Awards
In the midst of her breakup with Ben Affleck, Lopez participated in a recorded interview for the AMAs’ 50th anniversary special, which aired on October 6.

In honor of the American Music Awards’ 50th anniversary, Jennifer Lopez is reflecting on some of her favorite moments from the event.
Lopez, 55, became sentimental in a recorded interview during the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday, October 6, as she reminisced about her favorite moments of attending the AMAs on numerous occasions throughout the years.

She started by thinking back on the significant anniversary and how, as a young child with lofty aspirations, she used to watch the performance.
«You agree that it’s fairly amazing? The American Music Awards’ 50th anniversary. She recalled her first appearance at the event in 2001, saying, «I remember watching them at home when I was a little girl.»

She laughed and asked, «What?» as old video of her performance from that year appeared on the screen. «It was so long ago — but the energy in the room was very electric.»
Lopez then reflected on the time in 2011 when she received the Favorite Latin Artist award. Lopez donned a pink pussy-bow silk top for the segment. «It’s quite special to win a fan-voted award since it comes straight from the people you write music for. Regarding the honor, she described it as a «humbling experience.»
