On September 9, Gomez talked candidly about her relationship with Blanco and how it has changed her perspective on love and the prospect of marriage in an interview for Vanity Fair’s cover story.
«I have never experienced love like this,» declares the 32-year-old Emilia Pérez star, who has been openly dating 36-year-old Blanco since December 2023 — years after the two originally worked together on songs like «Same Old Love» from 2015 and «I Can’t Get Enough» from 2019.
«He has just been a beacon. A total bright spot in my life,» Gomez continued. «My best friend is him. I enjoy telling him everything.»
Both musicians have openly acknowledged their developing romantic emotions for one another, and in a May interview with SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Blanco declared his desire to wed Gomez.
The singer and actress told Vanity Fair, «He can’t lie.» «I was dying laughing,» she remembers saying following the interview. «Like, ‘Anything else you wanted to put out there?'» But Gomez is taking his time getting married to Blanco.
«We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules,» she said. «I want him to be who he is at all times. I want to be myself all the time.» She does have one disclaimer in case they do get married: «I will never, ever change my name. My name is Selena Gomez. That is all.»
