Brօther jսmps into the sеа to sаvе sistеr from a 9-fооt shаrk
Her brother managed to get the animal’s teeth off of her leg.
In instances where life is at stake, rapid thinking is advantageous. Thankfully, this young man possesses it, as evidenced by the fact that he was able to prevent her sister’s near-death experience.

Florida native Addison Bethea, 17, was scalloping on Keaton Beach on June 30 when she encountered an unexpected companion.
«And the next thing I know, something is grabbing hold of my leg, and I think that’s not right. The teen told Good Morning America, «And then I look and it’s a big old shark.
Fortunately, a Shark Attacks show on Animal Planet brought Addison’s knowledge of shark attacks back to her.

In the event of an attack, she understood she had to punch the shark in the nose, but she was paralyzed and unable to do it. She was in a dismal predicament, but the brave teen persisted in battling the shark. She tried to pull her legs off with her hands alone.
When the water turned red, Addison’s elder brother, Rhett Willingham, dove in to save her.
She walked back up, and Rhett said, «I saw, like, the blood and everything, and I saw the shark.»
«So after that, I dove over, grabbed her, and shoved them all in an effort to break them apart. He simply kept coming.

He continued, trying to describe what he did in that vital moment: «So I grabbed her, swam backward and kicked him, and then called for help. Rhett, who is 22 and a firefighter in Taylor County, is prepared for emergencies because to his training as an EMT. He repeatedly kicked and beat the shark in an effort to save his sister, and when it released Addison, he grabbed her and put her on a passing stranger’s boat.
The brother made a 4-foot tourniquet out of rope from the boat and wrapped it around his sister’s right upper thigh to stop the bleeding.
The nearest hospital was then airlifted to take Addison, where her condition was listed as «critical.»
The 17-year-old victim of a shark attack required immediate surgery due to the seriousness of her wounds.
According to Addison’s father, Shane Bethea, «The shark attacked her right leg, front quad muscle was completely demolished.» «It was a terrible, terrible wound. The vein from the left leg was converted into an artery by the vascular surgeon so that blood could flow to the right leg.
Despite what had happened, they were grateful she had lived to see the other side of that terrible encounter with a shark that they estimated to be at least nine feet long!
Only four days had passed since locals had reported seeing sharks in the same region before the Addison shark attack.
