Bride walks down the aisle in her grandmother’s 1961 wedding gown, which she kept in a garbage bag
Many young women daydream about their wedding. Their wedding gown is one of the most important factors they consider. Most women have strong opinions about what they want to wear.
And she knew exactly what she wanted to wear…

In 2016, Allie Livingwater, 23, was going through her grandmother’s cellar when she came across something extremely valuable in a garbage bag. She knew the moment she saw it that she would one day walk down the aisle in it.
She knew it was time to break out the gown when she got engaged to Timothy Livingwater five years later. Her grandmother had worn the gown to her own wedding 60 years before, and Allie would be wearing it for the first time.

Allie couldn’t have been happier when she wore the special dress on September 25th! Her grandmother was overjoyed because she had given Allie her «something old» and «something borrowed» with her dress.
After being professionally cleaned, the dress fit Allie perfectly, with no adjustments required. Allie’s only modification was to add a hoop skirt underneath.
At Turners Falls, her grandmother was moved to tears as she watched her granddaughter walk down the aisle in her wedding gown.

Allie Livingwater discussed her wedding and the significance of her wedding gown on Facebook. She showed everyone how the dress looked by posting a photo of herself and her grandmother wearing it.
She stated that because her wedding was so special, she would remember it for the rest of her life.

Allie has a special bond with her grandmother because she has lived with her since birth. The family moved in with Allie’s grandmother after her divorce after 38 years of marriage.

And, despite the fact that Allie had never met her grandfather, wearing her grandmother’s wedding gown made her feel closer to him.
Allie’s grandmother sobbed because she never imagined her gown would be worn again, let alone by her granddaughters. She’d written it off, convinced it’d never be useful again.
