According to eyewitnesses who watched the singer’s arrival at the ceremony, several people helped her get out of the limousine at once so that Britney would not get tangled in her dress.

Britney opened the ceremony that evening with a medley of her hits, but that wasn’t the only reason for her to appear on stage — that evening she was presented with the prestigious Millennium Award, which had previously been awarded to Beyoncé and Whitney Houston.
