Bruno the cat finds new owners after previous owners return pet for being «too adorable»

Bruno’s affectionate head-butting, distracting bedtime cuddling, and frequent «zoomies» made him the wrong fit for his previous family, but there is a happy ending to this cat’s story.

Bruno, a cat, was returned to a shelter in New Jersey a week after his adoption because his family found the pet «too affectionate.»

According to a Facebook post from the Montville Animal Shelter on Jan. 25, Bruno was recently adopted by a mother and her daughter, both first-time cat owners, which likely contributed to their decision to return the animal one week later.

«The family had never had a cat before and said he was too affectionate, always wanting to sit on their laps, follow them around, and head-butt them for kisses and pets,» according to the shelter.

According to USA Today, the mother worked from home, and Bruno’s adorable and distracting attention-seeking behavior kept his owner from her job. The cat also kept the young girl awake at night by sleeping on her bed and seeking cuddles.

According to the Montville Animal Shelter, the 2-year-old feline was also deemed «too playful» by his previous family due to his rambunctious evening «zoomies.»

According to Lindsay Persico of the Montville Animal Shelter, she noticed Bruno became depressed after being returned to the shelter, so she shared the cat’s story on Facebook. The post was shared over 1,000 times and received hundreds of comments.

Montville Animal Shelter received about 50 applications to adopt Bruno soon after the post went up on Jan. 25, which is unusually high for the facility, according to Persico.
