Celebrating 80 wedding years! This is love for all time
Next month, an Ohio couple will celebrate two significant anniversaries: they will both turn 100 years old.
According to reports, Hubert and June Malicote were both born in July 1922 and grew up in rural Kentucky. They first met when they both relocated to Ohio in search of work.
In an interview with NBC affiliate WLWT, the couple said that they met at church. They were just buddies at start. Their friendship evolved into something more.
Hubert and June married on June 8, 1943, but Hubert was called up to fight in World War II soon after. He was in the Navy for two years in Hawaii, but when he returned home, June was there to greet him.
According to TODAY, they moved to Hamilton, Ohio, and began a family there. They have three children, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Hubert and June will both be 100 years old soon, which is a fantastic achievement. June’s birthday is July 13, and Hubert will turn 100 on July 23.
People said a church service would be held in their backyard to commemorate the occasion.
«We’ve never had a fight,» Hubert remarked of his long-term relationship with his wife. We’ve never gotten into a quarrel.»
«We had problems in life, but we would never hurt each other,» he stated.
«If there is a fight, you might need to leave for a few minutes.»
According to TODAY, the couple spends every night eating dinner and watching a movie together. They kiss each other farewell before going to bed as part of their nightly routine.
«I put Mom in her wheelchair next to where Dad is sitting,» their 70-year-old daughter explained. They join hands and kiss each other goodnight.»
«They are overjoyed the next morning when they see each other. When they meet, they exchange enormous smiles.»
