During a mountain lion attасk on a family camping trip, a 9 yearold girl turns to prayer
There are many things that make us as parents nervous.
Having children is a wonderful experience, but it also exposes parents to a great deal of emotional pain.
As parents, we live in constant fear of something bad happening to our children. Even seemingly minor incidents, such as a son tripping on a gravel path or a daughter collapsing into a table, can cause us great distress.
Unfortunately, it is neither feasible nor practical to keep our children safe from harm by wrapping them in bubble wrap. We must accept that our children will face danger and adversity at times.
Fortunately, few of us will ever experience the fear and panic that Lily Kryzhanivskyy’s parents did recently.
Lily Kryzhanivskyy, a young girl from Stevens County, Washington, was camping with her family in May when she came face to face with a wild animal that posed a fatal threat to her life.
Lily was playing hide-and-seek in the nearby woods with some friends during their camping trip in Stevens County, Washington, when she jumped out to surprise them and was met by a mountain lion.
According to KCPQ, the mountain lion scratched Lily’s face and torso before attempting to drag her away into the bushes.
Okasna Mantsevich, the girl’s aunt, revealed that her niece cried out to God during the terrifying attack.
«She still believed,» Okasna said. «She still had that hope, like, ‘I’m going to pray to God,’ and she knew he’d save her.»
Fortunately, a few of Lily’s friends noticed the mountain lion attacking her, and some of them threw stones at the feline in an attempt to chase it away, while others ran for help.
Adults nearby rushed to the scene and slayed the attacking mountain lion, according to reports. Lily underwent several hours of surgery after being airlifted to the hospital. On June 3rd, she was finally released from the hospital.
«We are extremely thankful for this little girl’s resiliency, and we’re impressed with her spunk in the face of this unfortunate encounter,» WDFW Police Captain Mike Sprecher said, according to Fox News.
«It happened quickly, and we are grateful that the adults at the camp acted so quickly.»
Lily’s uncle, Alex Mantsevich, set up a GoFundMe page to help with the young girl’s recovery, and it has already raised $100,000.
«Lily was discharged from the hospital on June 3rd and returned home to her family,» Alex wrote in an update.
«Despite the fact that her fingers are wrapped up, she was opening all of her presents and sharing some stories about the accident.» She was a pianist.»
