Following her divorce, Maren Morris says her new EP is the distillation of the strangest year of my life
Morris remarked, «We all deserve peace in these very short few trips around the sun,» in an introspective Instagram post celebrating the publication of «Intermission.»

For Maren Morris, it’s been a year of transformation. Morris, 34, sent a thoughtful statement on Instagram as her brand-new five-song EP Intermission became available at midnight on Friday, August 2.
In the post, Morris candidly discussed pressing the «scariest reset button.» «Intermission embodies the most peculiar year of my existence.»

«I chose to press the most terrifying reset button I could have imagined and there was no turning back,» Morris stated in an October 2023 divorce filing from her spouse, country music artist and songwriter Ryan Hurd.
The «Circles Around This Town» singer shared the image with her EP track «Push Me Over» playing in the background. «The lengths one will go to feel joy again are sometimes desperate and terrifying as all get out, but we all deserve peace in these very short few trips around the sun,» the singer continued.

Morris went on, «These five songs represent the spectrum of emotions and my heart’s journey.» I sign the post with, «I hope you can hear the light coming back to me in these stories and somewhere, perhaps, see it mirrored back in you as I weave through loss, catharsis, se xuality, and gratitude.» «Love, m.»
Morris and Hurd, who got married in 2018, reportedly came to a divorce settlement deal, according to a January PEOPLE story.
