Grandpa purchased a school bus and is now transporting ten of his grandchildren to school
It’s nothing unusual for grandparents to indulge their grandchildren. Few people, however, are ready to go as far as this grandfather from Oregon.
Doug Hayes purchased a tiny school bus for the sole purpose of transporting his 10 grandchildren to school every day for Christmas. A few days before Christmas, he surprised them with this unique gift.

«When they saw it, they were thrilled,» he says.
Half of her grandchildren attend a small private school with no transportation, so parents must drop off and pick up students every day.
«Kids always say, ‘We have a great school, but we miss the school bus!'» Doug explains.
And the situation is now resolved, thanks to the amazing grandfather!
The other five grandkids are still preschoolers, but they will soon be going to school and will be able to ride the «Grandfather Express,» as Hayes dubbed his bus, for many years. He even scribbled his name on the board.

Hayes’ grandchildren all reside within a 20-minute drive of his home, and their school is only four kilometres away. So he intends to deliver them all before work in the morning.
He got the idea after his wife Amy asked him what significant goals he wanted to achieve in his life. «I want to have a bus to pick up all the grandchildren every morning and take them to school before work,» he said.
— This is a little bus. We’ll sing songs, talk, and they’ll remember grandfather for the rest of their lives. Aside from the financial aspect, I’d prefer a bus.»

And now the fantasy is starting to come true: Doug and Amy are seriously considering how much it will cost them.
The couple spent approximately a month looking for a bus that was already designed for youngsters, with magnets and numbers on the roof. They opted to install seat belts in all seats.
How did the kids react to the gift? They were overjoyed!
The children will now go to school on their own, but the grandfather believes he was even lucky.

«The essence of this gift was that my husband could influence the next generation by leaving them wonderful memories of how they spent their time together every day,» Amy Hayes explains.
Grandpa intends to board the first flight the day after winter vacation concludes.
