He Put Me on the Map! Naomi Watts laments the passing of longtime collaborator David Lynch
Naomi Watts’ breakthrough film, «Mulholland Drive,» was directed by David Lynch, who passed away on January 16.

David Lynch, the filmmaker of Mulholland Drive, passed away, and Naomi Watts is in grief.
On Thursday, January 16, his family confirmed that the renowned filmmaker had passed away at the age of 78.
Watts, 56, considered her relationship with Lynch both on and off screen in a memorial post on her Instagram.

«I have a broken heart. My friend Dave… Without him, the world won’t be the same. His creative mentorship was truly powerful,” wrote the British-Australian actress in a caption. The post consisted of two photos of her and Lynch — one featuring her kissing his lipstick-stained cheek — and a behind-the-scenes clip of the director inviting Watts to slap him.

«He put me on the map,» she added in the caption. «I had been attempting to enter this field for almost a decade, failing audition after audition. At last, I sat in front of an inquisitive man who was sparkling with brightness and using terms from a different age that made me laugh and feel comfortable.

Lynch’s «wisdom, humor, and love gave me a special sense of belief in myself I’d never accessed before,» she stated. «David’s masterful narrative enhanced cinema and served as an inspiration to generations of filmmakers worldwide, allowing everyone to have a glimpse into that world. He’s gone, and I just can’t believe it. Even though I’m in pieces, I will always be thankful for our friendship.
Watts has already given Lynch a lot of credit for her career as a movie star. Honoring
