«Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,» Simpson told PEOPLE in a statement. «We are concentrating on what is best for our children, and they come first.»
She remarks, «I have been through the darkest time, being held by the most light in an odd way,» in reference to their split. «I’ve matured a lot. I’m capable of so much. It wasn’t simple.
She continues by saying, «I am strong — maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life.» Making music in Nashville, where she started working in the fall of 2023, helped the singer and fashion tycoon find healing.
