I admire her beauty! Says the groom whose bride is old enough to be his grandmother
This pair, who have a 47-year age difference, is determined to teach the world that love has no bounds. Kathi Jenkins, 74, and Devaughn Aubrey, 27, are engaged and intend to marry next year, making this great-great-grandmother’s first marriage a reality.
»I generally waited tables or worked in fast food to support my children,» said Kathi Jenkins, who is now retired. She had previously been in several long-term relationships, giving birth to four children, thirteen grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Devaughn Aubrey works at Walmart as a stocker and as a porter for condos. And, despite the fact that he has no children, he was previously married at the age of 24 to a woman he knew from school.
The pair divorced in 2021, just before he met Jenkins. »I read her profile and messaged her in hopes of a response, she was online too and answered back,» Aubrey explained.
He then asked the woman for her phone number, and the two talked online for four months before meeting in person because they lived two hours apart.
When he eventually saw Jenkins in person, the 27-year-old was instantly drawn to her and remarked that she looked much better than in her images. He also said she smelled »very sweet and wonderful.»
However, Aubrey was concerned that Jenkins would reject him since she preferred taller men and he was 5’7», a fact he hadn’t disclosed to her prior to their face-to-face encounter. He recalls her being taken aback by his height and telling him, «You’re shorter than I thought.» Despite this, the attraction was reciprocal.
Despite being separated by more than four decades, these two appear to be a match made in heaven. «She is so perfect for me, and she has so much life experience and teaches me so much,» Aubrey said. «We never fight, we can always talk without yelling, and I completely trust her.»
He also mentioned that her quips and appearance were two of the key factors that drew him to Jenkins. He also enjoys the way she sings and the music she chooses.
The couple understands that because their relationship is unconventional, they may face a lot of criticism as a couple.
Aubrey stated that some people believe Jenkins is wealthy and that this is why he is with her, which he argues »is not the case at all.»
When it comes to Aubrey’s mother, the 27-year-old says he notified her about his affair once he began dating Jenkins.
«She thought I was joking about her age until we spent our birthdays together and showed her our pictures,» he stated.
Jenkins’ children and grandchildren are mainly supportive of their mother’s relationship, with the exception of one of her daughters, who dislikes Aubrey’s veganism.
Despite not being a typical couple, Jenkins and Aubrey are genuinely in love and intend to establish a future together. They are now engaged and plan to marry next year, bringing their romance to the next level.
»I simply want us to live the rest of our lives together and be happy,» the 74-year-old said. »I adore showing off my fiancée,» her 27-year-old husband-to-be said. »I can’t get over how stunning she is.»
The smitten couple has some words of encouragement for other couples in a similar predicament. »If you love someone older, go for it, do what makes you happy,» they advise. »I think we should all do what makes us happy, no matter what people think or feel, be natural,» Aubrey concluded.
