In order to determine who has two working neurons, Elon Musk orders government workers to list five things they did last week or risk being fired
“Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” the DOGE leader wrote on X, sparking confusion among thousands of federal workers.
Elon Musk is keeping a close eye on the federal workforce.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, the senior adviser to President Donald Trump and head of the Department of Government Efficiency took to X to announce a move concerning federal government employees.
“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” he posted. “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”
Soon after, federal employees received an email from the Office of Personnel Management titled: “What did you do last week?”
“Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished this week and cc your manager,” the email read. The message stated that all employees had until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, to reply.
While Musk’s initial post said those who did not comply would lose their jobs, the email did not.
