After the dog was discovered with a note, McKamey Animal Center posted a message on Facebook attempting to contact the pet parent and her family.
A Tennessee animal shelter found Lilo abandoned with a message from the owner explaining that she couldn’t afford to keep her, and they were able to reconnect the poor woman with her beloved pet.
Lilo was discovered walking around Chattanooga with a note attached to her collar, according to a Jan. 24 Facebook post from McKamey Animal Center (MAC), who then brought the dog to the shelter.

Please remember my name. According to the McKamey Animal Center’s post, which also included a picture of the dog, «My name is Lilo,» was written on the note that was fastened to Lilo’s collar. «Please be my love. Mother of two children who is homeless and unable to care for me Although she made every effort, she was unable to obtain assistance. She couldn’t afford me.
The note read, «Please don’t abuse me. She truly loves me, and I’m a great dog and loved to be loved on.»
In a Facebook post about the incident, MAC included a note of its own addressed «to Lilo’s mom» in an effort to contact the dog’s owner.
«We want you to know she is secure, and we will provide for her in the greatest manner possible.
We assure you that we will try our best to find her a lovely new home. She will be cherished by our staff and volunteers, and we will maintain her name. The shelter wrote to Lilo’s mother, «If you are reading this, we hope you will come forward to recover her.

To the best of our abilities, we will assist you with anything you need to take care of her. Without a doubt, Lilo misses you, and we only want to see her return to the people she loves most—her family. In either case, know that we are sympathetic, we won’t pass judgment, and we are prepared to assist however we can.
Soon after Lilo’s mother began receiving sympathetic messages, the shelter updated the post to indicate that the owner had been located.
The McKamey Animal Center posted a picture of Lilo and her owner cuddling on social media on January 25.

«We are actively working with the family to provide them with a safe haven, shelter, and resources so that they can stay together and address homelessness, even if we are unable to share many information with you just now.
We appreciate everyone who shared our story and spoke out in favor of the family. The level of help has astounded us. It really does take a community, and you guys have really showed us how strong ours is «adding the shelter

MAC concluded the article by urging those who were inspired by the tale of Lilo and her owner to think about adopting a rescue animal. The animal shelter also provided information on how pet owners can help others and spread goodwill.
«We want Chattanooga to be a place where everyone, not just the wealthy, considers their pets members of the family. That entails lending a helping hand to your neighbors, contributing to emergency care funds like MAC’s Angel Fund, informing people about free and low-cost services, and supporting the lifesaving work that MAC and other regional organizations carry out every day «Before reminding followers that MAC is committed to providing resources to any person or pet who needs them, the shelter wrote in its post on January 24.
