Dutchess The Husky puppy was allegedly left inside a car in a Las Vegas parking garage while her then-owner gambled in a casino.
Dutchess’ fate may have seemed like a gamble at first, but the endearing Siberian husky with a tragic backstory has now been dealt a winning hand!
Dutchess, a 3-month-old puppy at the time, was discovered locked inside a car on the top floor of a Las Vegas parking garage, her mouth sealed shut by electric tape, according to Nevada animal shelter The Animal Foundation.
The afternoon temperature outside had reached 113 degrees by the time concerned onlookers contacted police.
The dog was without food, water, or air conditioning for more than two hours while her owner was illegally inside a casino gambling, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, who responded and rescued the animal through the car’s sunroof. The owner was eventually charged.
Despite this ordeal, the animal shelter was able to find Dutchess a stable home the following month, placing her with a loving family.
Six months later, the shelter issued an update, informing fans of the puppy’s happy ending that she is still living the good life with her new owners, a family with two children and several furbabies for her to play with.
«She lives with a wonderful family who adores her,» the organization said on Thursday on Instagram.
«She sneaks into the kids’ beds and enjoys socializing with her new fur siblings.»
«She’s also quite the traveler, making her way all over Nevada, California, and Arizona, never passing up an opportunity to play in the snow,» according to the post. «Talk about living the good life.»
The shelter provided evidence in the form of a carousel of Dutchess’ family life, which included photos of the dog frolicking in the great outdoors and hanging out indoors with two contented-looking cats and another canine pal.
