Jen recreates what was not expected of her
To make face washing more enjoyable, we’ve all pretended to be Jennifer Garner in that Neutrogena commercial. (You know, the one where she rinses her face with an ocean-sized splash of water without getting drenched?)
If you haven’t already, you’ve laughed at the commercial’s unrealistic and sloppy depiction of the nightly practice.
Garner, a longtime Neutrogena ambassador, is clearly in on the joke more than a decade later. She recreated her epic first splash to commemorate her 15th anniversary as a brand ambassador—and it didn’t go exactly as she remembered.
«Congratulations on your 15th anniversary, @neutrogena!» To commemorate and reflect on my first splash, I went for chaos and grandma wet T-shirt contest vibes.»
Garner watches the original ad in the video, reflecting on her past. «Oh, you’re such a little peanut,» she remarks. «I can’t believe that chick was already a mother.» Then came the assignment: waterworks.
«OK, I think I remember. «The splash takes a few takes, so disregard this,» she said, motioning to her already splattered t-shirt. She then tried a couple of times in a row, her hair pulled back in a messy bun.
The actress laughed as she came up for air. «I’m getting a little, a little suspect in the ratings,» she admitted, her white tee dampened to a slight transparency. «I’m supposed to appear serene.»
She finished the shoot after one more attempt (edited in slow motion for dramatic effect). «It went up my nose,» she laughed again before kneeling to mop up the puddles she had left on the floor. «I recall people assisting with this part,» she joked. «Happy birthday, Neutrogena.»
Friends and followers were clearly impressed by Garner’s dedication to the role. «I couldn’t be more in love with you. «This is adorable!» one person said. «You nailed it!!!!» said another. «The way I literally just laughed out loud,» another person wrote.
Garner concluded her post by inviting everyone to try the Splash using the hashtag #MakeASplash for a chance to win $5,000 and a year’s supply of Neutrogena Hydro Boost products.
«Make a shambles!» Have a good time! #Neutrogena is inviting YOU to show off your best splash—just don’t be so good that you fire me from my job!» she wrote.
