Julianne instead of Tyra! New changes in mysteries
She’s putting on her ballroom shoes! Julianne Hough will take over as Dancing With the Stars host for the show’s 32nd season, replacing Tyra Banks.
«It is an honor to return to Dancing With the Stars as a cohost. «From the many years and different roles I’ve had the privilege of being a part of, the show holds such a special place in my heart,» the Safe Haven actress, 34, said in a statement to Variety on Monday, March 20.
«For the past 17 years, the incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family.»
Julianne went on to say she’s «excited to reunite» with cohost Alfonso Ribeiro as well as the three judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. She also praised the «unbelievably talented pros and the amazing cast on the dance floor» before wrapping up her remarks.
«Every time you step foot in the ballroom, the energy is magnetic, and I can’t wait to feel it again — and, of course, to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season,» she added.
The announcement of the new Dancing With the Stars host comes just days after Tyra, 49, announced her departure from the show on Friday, March 17, after two seasons as host.
«From the ballroom to the boardroom, baby!» the model exclaimed to TMZ at the time, admitting she has been «crazy focused» on her ice cream company, SMiZE & Dream.
«At heart, I’m an entrepreneur… «I believe my heart and soul are invested in my business,» the television producer added. «It’s also in the production of new television, which we’re working on…
But I really, really want to focus on my business, which is impossible to do while hosting a show. But you’ll see me making things rather than just hosting them. So we’ve got some big plans.»
Tyra took over as host and executive producer of the reality competition series before it moved from ABC to Disney+ in 2020, replacing longtime cohosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
