Kathie Lee Gifford was hospitalized with a fractured pelvis following a fall while recovering from a hip replacement
The 70-year-old tells PEOPLE that she spent more than a week in the hospital receiving physical therapy after suffering two fractures to her pelvis.

As she recovered from her most recent hip replacement surgery, Kathie Lee Gifford fell and ended up in the hospital, she exclusively tells PEOPLE. The 70-year-old former Today co-host claims she had two pelvic fractures and spent more than a week in the hospital receiving physical therapy.
In her own words, Gifford «moved 300 books by myself» at Nashville book events. Her words, «I weakened my body,» «It’s my own fault.»

One of Gifford’s pals dropped by to take her up the following day. Hurrying to the door, she «just tripped,» according to Gifford.
«I was weak in that spot, so it didn’t take much,» Gifford says to PEOPLE. «The next thing you know, I’m back in the hospital with a front and back pelvic fracture.»

That hurts more than anything my hip has ever experienced. The agony in the pelvic is unbelievable. However, here I am. Gifford describes it as a «humbling experience,» and she decided to spend an entire week at the hospital because «I don’t trust myself.»
«You think you know your body and the next thing you know, your body changes when you get older,» adds Gifford. «And as much as I don’t wanna think about it, I am.»
