Kelly Clarkson acknowledges that she chastises her kids for misbehaving
Kelly Clarkson has come under fire for acknowledging that she gives her kids spanks when they misbehave.
The 41-year-old musician first revealed the information in a 2018 interview with Atlanta radio station 94.1, but the video has since reappeared and gained a lot of attention online.
«Some individuals may not enjoy being spanked, but I’m not beyond giving one. The talk show host clarified, «I just mean a spanking; I don’t mean hitting her hard.» «I find nothing wrong with a spanking,» she continued, acknowledging that she occasionally corrects her kid in public.
«It’s a tricky thing when you’re out in public because then people are like, they think that’s wrong or something.»
The ‘Because of You’ singer also discussed her personal experiences with physical discipline, saying that even though her parents spanked her when she was younger, she is still a «well-rounded individual with a lot of character.»
«I got by in life despite my parents’ spankings of me. Since I’m from the South, you guys know that we receive spankings,» she remarked. «My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal’s office and give permission for her to spank me.»
River Rose, age eight, and Remington Alexander, age six, whom Clarkson has with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, are devoted children. The musician also mentioned in the interview that she forewarns her kid before punishing her and that she thinks things have actually gotten better.
