Kurt Russell asked whether he and Kate wanted him to adopt them—and why they said no
Goldie Hawn, the mother of Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson, has been in a relationship with Kurt Russell since 1983.

Oliver Hudson discusses how he and his sister Kate Hudson felt when Kurt Russell indicated interest in adopting them.
On the November 24 episode of Oliver and Kate’s Sibling Revelry podcast, Oliver, 48, interviewed Miley Cyrus’ mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, and sister, Brandi Cyrus.

As the group discussed life with adoptive parents vs biological parents, Oliver asked Brandi, 37, how she felt when Billy Ray Cyrus adopted her while he was married to Tish. «I only mention this since my father was around for a short period of time before leaving.
We have a fantastic relationship now, but it took a long, long time to get there,» Oliver remarked, referring to his and Kate’s biological father, Bill Hudson, whom their mother Goldie Hawn married from 1976 to 1982.

Goldie, 79, has had a relationship with Russell, 73, since 1983. «Kurt entered my life when I was six, five, or six, and he essentially raised me.»
«I’m the man I am today because of him, correct?» Oliver stated. «There was a moment when he asked us, myself and Kate, if we wanted to be adopted, and we said no.»
