Legend Maggie Smith is honored by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Harry Potter cast members
On September 27, the actor, who portrayed Professor McGonagall in the movie series, passed away at the age of 89.

Maggie Smith will always be remembered for her enchanted performance as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter film series, which Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars are celebrating.
In a statement provided to Variety, Radcliffe, who portrayed the title character in the eight-film series, described the late actress as «a fierce intellect» and a «legend».

«I was nine years old when I first met Maggie Smith, and we were going over scenes from David Copperfield, which was my first work. Other than the fact that my parents were in complete shock that I would be working with her, I knew almost nothing about her,» Radcliffe remembered.
«The other thing I knew about her was that she was a Dame, so the first thing I asked her when we met was ‘would you like me to call you Dame?’ at which she laughed and said something to the effect of ‘don’t be ridiculous!'»

«I remember feeling nervous to meet her and then her putting me immediately at ease,» she said. «She was incredibly kind to me on that shoot, and then I was lucky enough to go on working with her for another 10 years on the Harry Potter films.»

Radcliffe, 35, maintained that Smith «was a fierce intellect, a gloriously sharp tongue, could intimidate and charm in the same instant and was, as everyone will tell you, extremely funny.»
