‘Age is irrelevant,’ they say. The quote was recently proven by an unusual couple whose age difference surprised many people. At first glance, you might think Wuthichai Chantaraj, 19, is the son, nephew, or grandson of Janla Namuangrak, 56.
These two people are a couple who have been dating for over two years! They are, in fact, engaged and will marry soon. The couple is open about their relationship, which has surprised many people who have seen them together.
Wuthichai was 10 years old when Janla met him. According to The Mirror, they were neighbors in the Sakhon Nakhon province of northeast Thailand. Janla, a divorced grandmother of three, lived alone and had asked Wuthichai for help cleaning her house.
He cleaned her house frequently, and the two of them eventually became close friends. After some time, a romantic relationship developed. Wuthichai and Janla would go on dates together.
The relationship lasted two years. The couple was not afraid to show their affection for each other in public. In fact, they would kiss and hold hands.
They have, however, managed to keep their relationship a secret from family members, only revealing themselves as a couple in January of this year.
Family and friends dismissed them as a couple, calling them «crazy.» Janla’s children, who were in their thirties at the time, were taken aback when they learned of their mother’s relationship with a much younger man.
Janla admits to «feeling young again» when she’s in the presence of Wuthichai. He was like a’superhero’ to her. Every day, he would come to her house to clean. They both developed feelings for each other as he grew older.
«I was surprised because I’ve known him since he was a child,» Janla confessed.
Wuthichai recalled that the first time he saw her house, he thought it was in bad shape and was looking for ways to help her get it back in shape.
He was so eager to assist Janla, whom he admired and described as a «honest» and «hardworking woman,» that he went to great lengths to assist her.
«It was the first time in my life that I felt compelled to ensure that someone was living comfortably,» she says.
