Despite her claims that her passport was confiscated when she «joined the family,» Meghan Markle traveled overseas on at least 13 occasions after her connection with Prince Harry became public.
Upon being accepted into ‘The Firm’ in 2016, the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Oprah Winfrey that she ‘gave over’ her passport, driver’s license, and keys.
The soon-to-be mother claimed that she was «silenced» by the Palace in her shocking interview with the US talk show host, adding that «all of that gets turned over» once you become a member of the Royal Family.»
That was the last time I saw my passport, my driver’s license, my keys—all of that gets turned over,» the woman continued. «I joined that family.»
According to sources, Meghan had to show her passport to authorities in each of the 12 nations she traveled to during this time, the Sun said.
The Queen travels without a passport, but every other member of the Royal Family must have one while going overseas.
The Duchess may have had her passport confiscated for safekeeping, according to insiders, but she would still have used it for her international travels.
‘Of course the Royal Family would wish to keep Meghan’s passport safe,’ continued author Margaret Holder.
However, it’s inconceivable that she didn’t bring it on intimate and private excursions like her baby shower in New York, her trip to visit friends in Canada, her partying in Amsterdam, and her trip to Lake Como with George Clooney.
