Meghan’s new lifestyle business, American Riviera Orchard, experiences roadblock due to irregularities
She intended to become the queen of the kitchen with the help of some fancy jam jars.
However, the Duchess of Sussex’s home ideal has been put on wait after her soon-to-be-launched lifestyle brand suffered a trademark setback.
Meghan has applied to trademark the name of her service, American Riviera Orchard, for international use ahead of its full launch next year.
However, records show that in July, four months after obtaining registration, there were several ‘irregularities’ that needed to be ‘fixed’.
The US Patents and Trademarks Office has warned the Sussexes’ lawyers about several issues, including erroneous classification of yoga blankets, picnic baskets, and recipe books.
The agency also stated that payments of $11,382 (almost £9,000) are owed to various agencies around the world in order to register the trademark.
It is anticipated that Netflix, which has recently completed filming a cuisine show with the duchess, would take over the brand’s commercial exploitation, therefore it is safe to presume it will pay the costs.
A spokeswoman for the streaming company declined to comment on their agreement with her this week. Representatives from the Sussex family were asked for comment.
A source close to Meghan stated that American Riviera Orchard had received multiple Notices of Irregularity demanding clarifications on goods and services as well as the reclassification of specific things, but added that such requests are standard and totally expected when filing abroad
