On her grandson’s birthday, a rich grandmother mocks a poor grandmother until he opens their gifts
Please, son, take me home for Easter; I’ll sit in the corner, I’ll be quiet, I can’t go on… As Tim began to open his birthday presents, his wealthy grandmother requested that he open hers first, expecting it to be the most impressive.
She had no idea that an old and previously owned item would mean more to her grandson than her extravagant $10,000 gift.
«Why did you have to leave so soon?» Adam asked, tears streaming down his cheeks. As he gazed at his grandfather’s grave, he felt a weight in his heart that he had never felt before.
Adam, a 14-year-old boy, witnessed some of his family members crying while others silently prayed at the funeral.
Adam reflected on all the wonderful memories he had shared with his grandfather as he stood before his grandfather’s grave.
After school, the teenager looked forward to seeing his grandparents, especially since he knew he’d be fishing with them on weekends. Adam’s grandfather had made fishing a Saturday ritual, which had instilled a love of the sport in the boy.
When Adam imagined his grandfather, he imagined him holding the rod tightly in his hands, refusing to let anyone touch it. Adam stood back, fascinated by his grandfather’s engraved initials.
«Your grandfather loved you more than anything in this world and cherished every moment spent with you,» Amanda said, breaking Adam’s thoughts.
«I lost my husband, and you lost a true friend,» Adam hugged his grandmother’s back and rested his head on her shoulder. He believed she was the only person who truly understood the depth of his grief over his grandfather’s death.
Amanda and Adam were crying together when Kira, the teenager’s other grandmother, interrupted them. «Hey, Adam!» she exclaimed. Don’t be depressed, honey.
Let’s go get some tasty pizza!» Kira, who had lost her husband a long time ago, was a wealthy woman who took over his business and led a lavish lifestyle, able to afford whatever she desired.
«Please leave me alone!» Kira drew a sigh from Adam. «I’d like to remember Grandpa for a while. I don’t
Adam stomped towards the door, wiping his tears away. He left the funeral and went to his late grandfather’s house, where he sat in the garage and remembered how they used to get ready to go fishing every weekend.
«I really miss you, Grandpa!» Adam expressed his dismay by shaking his head. «I wish I could go fishing one more time with you!»
Adam spent the entire evening in his late grandfather’s garage, looking through his fishing rope collection. Everything in the garage reminded him of his grandfather, the man who had taught him so many life lessons at such a young age.
After a few days…
Adam struggled to open his eyes as his phone rang on his bedside table.
«Who could be calling me this early in the morning?» he wondered, reaching for his phone. The ringing, however, stopped as soon as he picked it up. When he looked at the screen, he realized it was his birthday. While he was excited to turn fifteen, the absence of his grandfather made him sad.
Adam used to cut his birthday cake at his grandfather’s house every year, but fate did not allow him to continue the tradition. Instead of celebrating his birthday, he just wanted to stay in bed.
Outside his room, he heard Kira’s voice. «What is she doing here?» he wondered as he opened the door to his bedroom.
She had invited his favorite band to perform at the party, and the decor was handled by one of the best event management companies.
«Come on, Adam!» exclaimed Kira.
«Everyone is waiting outside for you!» Prepare for your birthday party!» Adam dashed to his room to change into his favorite clothes after hearing Kira’s excitement.
He was able to forget his grief for a moment and feel joyful knowing that his friends and family were waiting for him outside. He was also thrilled to learn that he would be able to meet some of his favorite musicians.
When he saw the lovely decorations, the teenager couldn’t stop smiling. He’d always wanted to celebrate his birthday like that, and Kira had made his wish come true.
Thank you incredibly much!» Adam said as he hugged Kira. «Everything is so lovely!» I can’t believe you invited my favorite band to perform live!”
«I’m so happy you enjoy everything, sweetheart.» Kira smiled as she patted her grandson on the back.
«Your happiness is more important to me than anything else!»
After a few minutes, Adam noticed that everyone except Amanda had arrived at the party. He was concerned because he knew Amanda would never miss his birthday celebration.
When he asked Kira where Amanda was, she lied, saying, «Oh, I forgot to invite her. I’m truly sorry, honey.» Adam, on the other hand, was well aware that his wealthy grandmother was not telling the truth. Kira, he suspected, had not invited Amanda due to her limited financial resources.
