In the pages of a royal biography, Queen Elizabeth’s last journal entry has been made public.
In the revised edition of his book Charles III: New King, Robert Hardman states that the late Queen penned her last letter just two days before she passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. The New Court. The Inside Story, published on November 7.
Her late Majesty, who meticulously kept a diary during her historic 70-year reign, sat down to document the day’s happenings while at her beloved Balmoral on September 6th, as she usually did.
«The monarch’s diligence in documenting her condition, despite her deteriorating health, is not surprising,» Tatler wrote.
The journal entry was straightforward: Hardman stated, «Edward came to see me,» alluding to her private secretary, Sir Edward Young, who was assisting the Queen in organizing the swearing-in of the ministers of freshly elected U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss. After a lifetime of public service,
the Queen’s appointment of Truss on September 6 would turn out to be her last public appearance.According to a passage in The Telegraph, Hardman stated, «It turns out that she was still writing it at Balmoral two days before her death.» «As always, her most recent entry was factual and useful.»
