Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson are taking some time apart. After ten years of marriage, the 44-year-old singer and actress and her 45-year-old ex-NFL player husband are divorcing, Simpson exclusively tells PEOPLE.
«Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,» Simpson told PEOPLE in a statement. «We are concentrating on what is best for our children, who come first. We value privacy at this time as we work through this as a family and are thankful for all of the love and support that has been shown to us.»
Less than a week has passed since Simpson, who is married to Johnson and has three children together, reminded her fans on Instagram that «life is short» with a smiling selfie. While you still have teeth, smile.
In November, at the same time Simpson hinted at her «comeback» to music with a mysterious Instagram post that included pictures of herself in a recording studio, Johnson was seen without his wedding ring.
As she captioned the photos, «Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,» «This is a personal comeback. It’s a self-apology for enduring everything I didn’t deserve.»
Days later, a source informed PEOPLE that the singer of «With You» and her spouse «very much live separate lives.»
