Please Say Yes is how Richard Gere recalls his first encounter with Julia Roberts before Pretty Woman

The long-standing friendship between Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, which began with a meeting in his office prior to his consent to film Pretty Woman, is being recalled.
The 75-year-old actor said that the two had first met before the 1990s romantic comedy, which was directed by the late Garry Marshall, was filmed during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on November 20.
«She had made, I think, one film before [Pretty Woman] — Mystic Pizza, and Gary Marshall … He put us together,» Gere said.
«I recall that when Julia visited me in New York, he said, ‘Richard, Julia, she’s good,'» he added. She is good; you will enjoy her. Gary introduced us after she arrived in my workplace in New York and he departed. ‘How’s it going?’ he asked when he called back around forty-five minutes later.
«I replied, ‘It’s Gary.'» While I’m speaking with Gary, she’s writing something on one of my Post-its on the opposite side of the desk. I read it after she sets it down and turns around, and it reads, ‘Please say yes.’ «Gary, I believe I just said yes,» I said.
