Meghan gave birth to Archie in London one year following their 2018 royal wedding. After leaving their royal responsibilities in 2020, the couple relocated to Santa Barbara, California, where Lili was born the following year.

Since only grandchildren are granted titles right away, Archie and Lili were not given the titles of prince and princess at birth. However, they began to use them after their grandfather, King Charles, assumed the throne in 2022. Queen Elizabeth was their great-grandmother.

The children are formally Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex, derived from Harry and Meghan’s titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which Queen Elizabeth granted them upon their marriage. Since then, the family has changed their last name to Sussex.

For privacy considerations, the pair has mainly kept their kids out of the spotlight, usually only posting pictures and videos that obscure their faces (such as their 2024 Christmas card and Lili’s 2025 premiere on Meghan’s lifestyle website As Ever). Through their charity Archewell Foundation, Meghan and Harry started a program in 2024 to assist parents whose children had been harmed online.
