Rebel Wilson is figuring out how to manage her work and her new role as a mother.
Speaking with PEOPLE during the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her directing debut, The Deb, the 44-year-old Pitch Perfect star revealed that it was challenging for her to balance being a first-time mother and filmmaker.
In November 2022, Wilson’s daughter Royce, who is 22 months old, was born through surrogacy.
Wilson acknowledges, «It was hard.» «Royce was about to make a turn. It was difficult because I wasn’t getting any sleep and had to bring the family back to Australia.»
«Now that the movie is finished and everything, I’m getting a little more sleep. However, being a new mother and working in a profession I had never done before was really difficult. And that’s it. And I will get over that, I promise.»
Wilson tells PEOPLE that although it was challenging, her daughter was able to spend some time on set during the filming, and she has probably seen the film several times by now.
«Royce visited the set multiple times. adores it. She’s undoubtedly seen the movie a few times for whatever reason,» the pleased mother remarks. «She enters when she hears the music while I’m watching something in my home theater.
