The running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, who helped lead his team to its second-ever Super Bowl triumph, expressed his disappointment with the fans jeering Taylor Swift during the game in an appearance on The Howard Stern Show.
«I recall that she was jeered when they displayed her on the jumbotron. I don’t understand. He said to Stern, «I don’t understand why she was receiving hate there,» and Stern concurred.
Barkley went on to say that by bringing her enormous fan base to the Super Bowl, Swift broadened the audience and attendance.
Barkley added that Swift was there admirably to support her spouse, running back Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
«She’s made the game bigger,» Barkley said. He said, «We’re trying to expand the game and you know, her being a part of it’s only helping that.»
The Philadelphia Eagles led the Kansas City Chiefs, who had won the last two Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024, scoreless at halftime before winning 40–22 in the pivotal game on Sunday, February 9.
