Nick Lachey is talking candidly about his past traumas.
After splitting from Jessica Simpson in 2006, the 51-year-old host of season three of The Ultimatum, which was made available on Netflix on Wednesday, December 4, said he understood the anguish of divorce in an interview with a participant.
According to E! News, Nick, who married Simpson in 2002, stated, «I understand the hurt, the scars that exist from that because I was previously married and divorced.»
«Don’t let your past define your future,» he added on The Ultimatum, a show that tracks couples as they engage with possible mates before choosing to stay together or end their current partnerships.
«What I truly always wanted in my life, which was to have a beautiful marriage and a beautiful family, if I hadn’t retained my belief in that, I wouldn’t have ever realized the beautiful life I have with this woman,» Nick continued, referring to his recent marriage to Vanessa Lachey.
In 1998, Nick and 44-year-old Simpson met at the Hollywood Christmas Parade in Los Angeles. A month later, at a Teen PEOPLE party in Florida, they reconnected and started dating.
Following their 2002 wedding in front of 350 guests, the pair went on to star in their three-season MTV reality series, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, with their wedding captured in the opening titles.
