Shannen Doherty di ed amid a contentious court fight with her ex
The star of ‘90210’ signed documents to conclude her divorce from Kurt Iswarienko the day before she died at the age of 53 on July 13.
Shannen Doherty was still in court with her former husband Kurt Iswarienko in her final months.
But just one day before she died on July 13 after a long battle with breast cancer, the beloved Beverly Hills, 90210 star assured she would remain legally single after her passing.
During a cover interview with PEOPLE in November, Doherty discussed being prepared for the end of her life, saying that she had «things very spelled out in my will.»
She filed for divorce from Iswarienko in April 2023, but their divorce processes had been drawn.
On the day before Doherty died, the star completed the paperwork to terminate the marriage; Iswarienko signed the forms on July 13.
Along with signing a file to forgo spousal support, Doherty agreed to a «default or uncontested dissolution» of their marriage, indicating that the two had settled their divorce outside of court.
However, because Doherty died before a judge could sign off on the marital dissolution judgment (which makes a divorce official in California, according to family law attorney Ashley Silberfeld), the divorce was not technically final at the time of Doherty’s death.
