She knows how to save money. Just a dollar a day spending and she’s rich
A Japanese woman who cut back on her expenses and saved her money for 16 years has made her early retirement at 34 years old. Saki Tamogami made headlines when citizens learned that she attained her goal of owning properties by the time she turned 35. To achieve this, she claims to have started saving money at the age of 18.

At 27 years old, Saki purchased her first house amounting to US $77,794.00 (¥10 million). 2 years later, she purchased her second house amounting to US $140,030.00 (¥18 million). In May 2019, Saki was able to purchase her third house amounting to US $287,838.00 (¥37 million).

Saki claims that she spent not more than US $1.40 (¥153) a day to save enough money. According to Japanese media, the thrifty woman would not buy new clothes since she was 18 years old and only wear second-hand clothes given to her. Her food would only cost $.40 (¥50) to buy the ingredients for udon with vegetables.

“As long as I can fill my stomach, what I eat doesn’t really make a difference,” says Saki.
Saki recalls that when she was 29 years old, she cut her hair short and sold the strands for some money. Within 2 decades, Saki has acquired 3 properties for a total of $428,276.00 (¥55 million).

At 35, Saki has retired and lives off the rent she receives from her properties. Her monthly income is $2,338.00 (¥300,000). Her third property has a cat cafe that takes in stray cats for adoption.
“Save your energy and money for something you love; only then can one be said to be responsible for one’s own life,” Saki advises.
