The 39-year-old cookbook author announced the death of her dog, Penny, on Saturday, January 25, in a heartfelt Instagram post. Teigen remarked on the life and unwavering friendship of the French bulldog alongside a number of pictures of the puppy.

«Our beautiful little tripod queen, penny, passed on peacefully in her sleep today,» she said. «Born the same day John and I got married, 11 years ago, she was there for us for every baby, every loss, every joy.»
Teigen then gave a brief overview of Penny’s character. «She loved nothing more than being loved, having her nub rubbed and destroying any ball she could get her paw on, even til her last weeks,» she stated.

She went on, «Never forget that while every pup is just a few chapters in your long life, for them you are their entire book, their entire lives,» before ending with a heartfelt note for Penny. «Ah, a penny. You were such a blessing to us. For us, say hello to Pippa and Puddy. You’re all back together.»
