According to Matthew Lewis, the youthful cast of Harry Potter can give themselves one credit for keeping everyone straight.

During a solo panel at Rhode Island Comic Con on Sunday, Nov. 3, the 35-year-old actor talked candidly about his time working on the popular movie series. Lewis discussed his thoughts on why the franchise’s youthful ensemble, which also includes Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, has escaped the difficulties that many former child stars have in the spotlight during the panel’s Q&A session.

He first made a joke about how «we’re very good at hiding all of those stories,» but later admitted that «it was tricky» as they made the switch from kid actor to

«There was absolutely a lot of trepidation» regarding whether he «was going to be able to hack it in that larger pool,» the All Creatures Great and Small star added.

«Having said that, I was thrilled by the possibility. I’ve probably never picked a serious career since I have a very short attention span,» he added. «[After] 10 years in Harry Potter, I was ready to do something else and also was not keen to do anything that was going to lead to multiple series.»

Nevertheless, Lewis claimed that after working on Harry Potter, he «had no idea what was next» and «wasn’t prepared at all.» But he gave particular gratitude to the «friendships» he formed with his young co-stars in Harry Potter.
