Timothée Chalamet has a lot to rejoice about after winning the 2025 SAG Awards’ best actor prize.
Chalamet, 29, received the award at the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards presentation on February 23 at the Shrine Auditorium for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. He thanked his mother, Nicole Flender, who was his date to the ceremony, at the start of his speech.
Chalamet remarked, «I was not expecting this at all,» «I want to start by expressing my gratitude to my mother, who is with me tonight. She has 40 years of experience with the stage union Actors Equity.
«I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan, a true American hero,» he added, adding that he had spent five years training to play Dylan with director and co-writer James Mangold of A Complete Unknown. And playing him was an honor of a lifetime.
Chalamet called out other artists as he wrapped up. «I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is I’m really in pursuit of greatness,» he stated. «I want to be one of the greats, even though I know that’s not how people typically talk. The greats inspire me.
