The deeper meaning behind Kate Middleton’s Festival of Remembrance outfit! An inside peek at her style
It appeared as though Princess Kate reached for Princess Diana’s old earrings.
At her first significant royal event following chemotherapy, Kate Middleton made a discreet dress statement.
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales attended the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 9 together with Prince William, King Charles, and other royal family members.
In keeping with custom, the royal family joined forces to support the Royal British Legion’s yearly celebration of the sacrifices and service of the members of the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces.
In addition to more recent military achievements, this year’s festival honored the accomplishments of the World War II generation during the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
Princess Kate may have been sending a statement with her outfit, which made the outing her first official royal function since she announced on September 9 that she had finished chemotherapy.
Princess Kate donned all black as a sign of respect and to demonstrate uniformity, as was customary for the solemn occasion. She accessorized a fitted dress with matching shoes and hose, as well as a quilted purse.
Her wavy, side-parted hairstyle highlighted a unique piece of jewelry
that seemed to be Princess Diana’s old Collingwood pearl earrings. The Princess of Wales finished the ensemble with a symbolic pop of flowers with her Fleet Air Arm brooch and another item already in her jewelry box: the Nura pearl necklace from British brand Monica Vinader.
