The girl had a fight with her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day and disappeared
For more than two months, the man was considered the main suspect in the mysterious disappearance of his beloved. The media almost openly called him a criminal. But everything changed when the police discovered the body of the unfortunate girl.

We are in the USA, California. 27-year-old local resident Erica Alonso received an invitation from her 45-year-old boyfriend to attend a night party dedicated to Valentine’s Day. Young people met for two years, then broke up and just the other day resumed their relationship.
The names of all the participants in this story, except Erica, the police do not name and they were not published in the press.
On the evening of February 14, 2015, Erica and her boyfriend took a taxi to a nightclub where they had booked a table. The lovers were seen by dozens of witnesses who did not remember anything unusual.
At the club, Erica and her boyfriend met another couple. They drank and danced together. When the club closed at 01:30 the next day, already four of us, in the car of new acquaintances, the heroine of our story went to her boyfriend’s apartment.

The night party ended with Erica and her lover quarreling. A scandal began. New acquaintances hurried to retreat. It happened exactly at 03:30 at night. They became the last independent witnesses who saw the girl alive.
When she did not get in touch with her parents, they turned to her boyfriend. According to the man, they had a fight, Erica left his apartment immediately after the guests left, at 03:45. She got into her car and drove home to another city.
The situation is typical, but the girl did not show up either on the second day or a week later. The phone has disappeared from the network. Her car was also missing, the cameras on the roads did not record the number.
It doesn’t look like a voluntary escape — the girl worked in a large company, saved up for her own housing, and she had a very impressive capital in her accounts.

The girl’s parents blamed the boyfriend for the disappearance of their daughter. A wave of «popular anger» was picked up by local media and social networks. Although the guy was not directly accused of murder (for this you can end up in court), but with half hints they forced everyone to believe in his guilt.
Like, they quarreled, in a fit of anger he grabbed something heavy, and then got rid of the body.
On March 25, in a highway parking lot, 22 km from her boyfriend’s house and 3 km from her own home, Erica Alonso’s car was found with her personal belongings. The parking ticket was punched early in the morning on February 15th. There was only a telephone.
Finally, on April 28 of the same 2015, in the forest, about 20 km from the parking lot, random tourists found the body of a girl.
It was Erica Alonso. But time has taken its toll. The examination could not unequivocally answer the question — whether her death was related to violence, an accident or other reasons.

But the autopsy gave interesting results. In the blood of the girl, they found 0.22 ppm of alcohol (not such a large dose) and a depressant, which is commonly called the “date rape drug”.
This liquid chemical suppresses the will, causes fun, increases the sensitivity to touch, causes arousal. The action begins in 15-30 minutes and lasts from 1 to 3 hours. In the US, using it on another person without their consent is a criminal offense.
The police concluded that most likely Erica died from an overdose of this substance, caused by alcohol exposure. But how did the poison get into her body? And who carried the body to the forest? Didn’t she herself walk such a huge distance from the parking lot?

Maybe it was her boyfriend who did it? But why? They started dating again.
Maybe the same couple who spent two hours in the apartment with them poured the depressant? Almost immediately after Erika’s disappearance, social media users noticed that the club where she celebrated Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend is a popular place for lovers of romantic meetings with couple exchanges. But in any case, they left before the girl.
Or maybe the girl met someone else on the way home?
So far, there are no answers to all these questions.
The police officially announced that they would not open a criminal case. But Erica’s parents still blame her boyfriend.
