Shiloh, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s kid, took out a newspaper ad announcing that she intends to change her name and drop her fathers surname.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is pursuing legal action to change her name.
According to TMZ, more than a month after submitting paperwork to eliminate the «Pitt» from her hyphenated surname, the 18-year-old ran an ad in the Los Angeles Times stating her plan to pursue her new nickname.
The document indicated that she will alter her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, according to the source.
In California, a name change request must be broadcast in the local newspaper.
According to the state courts’ website, «you must publish in a newspaper of general circulation that publishes legal notices in the county where you file your case.»
Shiloh submitted her request on May 27th, her 18th birthday.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Shiloh—the fourth oldest of Angelina and Brad Pitt’s other children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, as well as twins Vivienne and Knox, 15—is privately supporting the case by employing her own lawyer.
However, she is not the only family member that likes a shortened surname. Zahara presented herself at a Spelman College sorority initiation ceremony in November without using Pitt’s surname.
