There was no chance for life! A child with a minimum weight made me believe in miracles
A 1-pound-11-ounce baby born three months prematurely was thought to be dead, but his mother now reports that he is thriving and has defied the odds.
Saniah Poindexter found out she was pregnant when she was 19 years old.
Her pregnancy was going along normally until Saniah came home from college with a high fever and stomach ache at 26 weeks.
She went into preterm labor and gave birth 14 weeks early.
«During my pregnancy, I did everything I could to stay healthy.
«When I was told he «would not survive,» I cried a lot. They said I’d be lucky if he came home.»
Kayden, a micro-preemie, weighed only 1lb 11oz at birth and spent 65 days in the NICU.
Kayden was released from a Michigan hospital weighing 4 lbs 8 oz, and he is now thriving at home, according to his mother.
«He’s defied expectations. Despite what we’ve been told, he’s doing really well,» said Saniah, who is studying business management at Grand Rapids Community College.
«It was the happiest day of my life to bring him home.»
Kayden, who is technically only one month old, is already a «very feisty» baby, making noises and rolling over.
«He’s always looking for me, which shows he’s a very advanced baby,» Saniah told SWNS.
«I knew he was unique.»
