The six-month-old twins, Annie and Issie Bateson, were born conjoined at the chest and pelvis. each shared critical organs like the liver, bladder, and intestines, but each had separate small hearts. They also have one separate leg and a fused limb between them.
During Hannah’s pregnancy, the parents recognised the seriousness of the twins’ illness and scheduled a critical surgery at London’s famed Great Ormond Street Hospital. The couple anticipated that both girls would require prosthetic legs following their divorce.
They expressed their appreciation that the girls had survived the trauma and hoped that their stay in the hospital would last the next 18 years, despite the less-than-ideal circumstances.
The parents boasted that their daughters had shown extraordinary resilience and had thus far proven sceptics incorrect.
Hannah wanted for this upbeat attitude to last forever. A fundraising campaign with an initial goal of $5,000 was launched to assist the family with the accompanying costs. However, by Tuesday, the campaign had already topped £21,000, demonstrating the generous support of well-wishers.
The parents are looking forward to the successful surgery and the eventual return of their beautiful babies. They are grateful for the opportunity to assist the courageous little girls on their journey and wish to thank everyone who has contributed to their cause.
