This 26-year-old buffalo waited until his final encounter with his owner before passing away.
The complex interaction between humans and animals is interesting. An elderly man named Liang Ping from Yunlin County, Taiwan, has been raising a buffalo for 26 years and considers it a member of his own family.
The buffalo, known as Niu Niu, and Ping have been working together practically every day in the field and have forged close bonds. As Ping approached his 75th birthday in 2011, Niu Niu is also aging and getting ready to retire. After they finished their final shift in the field, Ping cleaned the buffalo and intended to send it to the Old Cows House in Tainan.
Niu Niu was nurtured by Ping for 26 years.
Niu Niu resisted eating or drinking in the Old Cows House because it was missing Ping. Ping instantly went to the location to meet his buffalo after hearing the news. Niu Niu improved its appetite as soon as it met Ping. Niu Niu, who stayed at the Old Cows House for six years, turned 32 in 2016. That is the same as being 100 years old.

The keeper discovered Niu Niu one day in a very fragile state, unable to swallow its meal. The keeper instantly told Ping of the situation, and Ping immediately dispatched some food from his village for Niu Niu. When Ping arrived, Niu Niu joyfully ate the meal.
That evening, Niu Niu passed away in his sleep from multiple organ failure, and Ping’s food for it ended up being its last meal.
He served Niu Niu its final meal.
