«It appears that someone purposefully maimed this poor dog, causing it a great deal of suffering,» MHS said in a Facebook post.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, the dog, now named Baron, was discovered near Livernois and Warren on Detroit’s southwest side.

MHS rushed to rescue the injured dog after someone reported seeing him.

Baron was treated for his injuries at MHS’s excellent animal care center. «Baron is doing remarkably well considering his injuries,» his vet said. He is now stable and taking pain relievers and antibiotics.

MHS stated in their most recent survey update that they are still looking for tips and are investigating the community where the Baron was discovered.
