A 7-year-old boy claims he is proud of his injuries after running out in front of a vicious dog to save his smaller sister.

In July 2020, a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix leapt at Bridger Walker and his sister, who was 4 years old, as they were playing outside in the backyard of a friend’s house in Wyoming.

Bridger, who was 6 years old at the time, reportedly jumped in front of his sister reflexively to guard her and was then mauled in the face by the dog, according to NBC News’ July 2020 report, which cited the siblings’ parents.

The damage took 90 stitches and multiple procedures to heal, and the child was left with severe facial scars.

Bridger said, «If someone had to die, I thought it should be me,» at the moment.

The now 7-year-old is still in agreement with that assertion. His father, Robert Walker, asserted that while not being very bothered by his scar, his son takes pride in having one.

«Do you want it to go away? Is that what my wife and I asked him? And he added, «I don’t want it to completely disappear,» the father of five told People.

Bridger doesn’t think of his scar as a physical reminder of his valiant deed, but he does think it’s something to be proud of. He simply thinks, «I was a brother, and that’s what brothers do,» is how it happened.

It serves as a reminder that his sister is unharmed and in good condition.
His aunt Nikki Walker told him the story at the time. The proud aunt posted on Instagram, «My nephew is a hero who saved his tiny sister from an aggressive dog.»

«He personally undertook the assault to prevent the dog from capturing his sister. Later, he declared, «I thought it should be me if anyone was going to die.» Last night, he returned from the hospital. I realize it’s a long shot, but I’m trying to get in touch with the Avengers and other heroes so they can find out about the newest member of their team.

In her post, she included the handles of numerous «superhero» celebrities, including Chris Evans (Captain America) and Robert Downey Jr. (Ironman), both of whom responded to the story by leaving supportive video remarks for the little hero.

However, Bridger’s father claimed that his son feels uncomfortable with the label of hero.

When someone calls him a hero, he says, «It almost saddens him sometimes because he [thinks], ‘Maybe I could have done more to protect her.'»

The response from so many of the heroes of their son’s life has left the family speechless with gratitude.

Despite the fact that Bridger has undergone numerous operations, there is still more to be done.
