Together again. This dog faithfully waited for the owner at the hospital for several weeks
A devoted dog is thrilled to be back in the arms of her favorite human after spending weeks waiting outside a hospital while her owner, a homeless man, was admitted for treatment.
Dr. Vanessa Almeida, a 30-year-old general surgery resident, first encountered 36-year-old Claudiano at Santo Antônio de Jesus Regional Hospital in Brazil when he was admitted with a severe hand wound that required surgery.
«He is not working right now. He is a walker and has traversed several Brazilian states on foot with Mel, his loyal friend, according to Almeida, who spoke to The Epoch Times.
Mel, a 6-year-old mixed breed dog, would be «helpless,» so Claudiano initially objected to staying in the hospital. However, staff members immediately agreed to care for Mel.
She was first very dejected, and seeing her broke my heart. She never went out the hospital door, according to Almeida.
Every day that Claudiano was in the hospital, Almeida spotted Mel because she always has pet food for stray animals in her car. She made sure to shower and change before going back to the surgery ward to avoid bringing filth from outside into the hospital atmosphere. She fed the dog and gave her new water.
She brought Mel to the vet, who cleaned him, treated him for fleas, and examined him overall. Almeida noticed Mel’s appearance gradually becoming better as she received attention and love from all directions.
Other medical experts, such as Nurse Tete, who accompanied Mel and Claudiano, were crucial to this procedure, the doctor stated. Cristina, the vet, assisted us by offering some free services. Mel received assistance from staff members in administration, the kitchen, cleaning, reception, and visitors after the majority of the hospital employees had been relocated.
However, Mel’s regular encounters with Claudiano in the parking lot, where she was watched by spectators and hospital employees, provided the most joy of all. On TikTok, Almeida posted videos of the heartfelt reunions.
Every time Mel encountered him, she sobbed a lot. Jumping into his arms, she played vigorously for a time before drifting off to sleep happily and enjoying his touch.
Almeida claimed that after each interaction with Mel, Claudiano’s disposition improved, aiding in his recuperation. Since then, he has been returned to his hometown, where Almeida anticipates he will finish his therapy.
After the doctor posted Claudiano and Mel’s tale online, he or she was inundated with inquiries from people who wanted to lend a hand. A local hairstylist, Rodrigo Franco of Ney Silva’s salon, gave Claudiano a free shave and new haircut to help him feel more confident after she set up a donation website and raised over 20,000 Brazilian reals (about $3,780 USD).
A family was reunited thanks to Almeida’s sharing.
She explained, «Claudiano’s family contacted me. «Through our interaction, some sisters who hadn’t seen him in almost ten years were able to reunite.
Almeida is a proponent of the «chain of good,» the idea that by sowing a tiny seed, love will grow and spread like wildfire.
She told The Epoch Times, «It was extremely lovely to see how many individuals supported this cause. Some were first skeptical, but perseverance and faith propelled us on. It is possible to change people’s lives.
